Aroma Profile: Sweet, nutty, earthy, slightly smoky.
Appearance: Rich reddish-brown in colour. Batana is a semi-solid oil with a creamy, pudding-like consistency.
Plant Description: Batana oil is derived from the Elaeis oleifera tree, also known as the American palm or Ojon oil palm. It is a tall palm tree found in Central and South America. The oil is extracted from the nuts of this tree and has been traditionally used by indigenous communities for hair and skin care.
Characteristics: Has deep moisturizing and nourishing properties for skin and particularly the scalp.
Constituents: The oil contains a rich blend of essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins.
ANTIOXIDANTS carotenoids, including α-carotenes, β-carotenes, lycopene, and phytoene, as well as other antioxidants that help protect skin from free radicals and slow down signs of aging.
FATTY ACIDS 48-52% oleic acid, 18-22% linoleic acid, 10-15% palmitic acid, and stearic acid and monounsaturated fatty acids like palmitoleic and cis-vaccenic acid. These fatty acids are known for their moisturizing and nourishing effects on hair and skin.
PHYTOSTEROLS that are known for their ability to stimulate collagen production and improve skin elasticity.
VITAMINS high in Vitamin E, particularly tocotrienols and tocopherols, which act as antioxidants and protect against UV damage and environmental pollutants.
Cautions: Test it for skin allergies before using it in large areas.
Storage: It is advisable to store cold-pressed carrier oils in a cool, dark location to preserve their freshness and ensure maximum shelf life.
